camping in the desert

EXCURSION PROGRAM

Day 1:

Departure from the hotel via the Roman road towards Douz.

Arrival at Douz, known as "the gateway to the desert," and free time to explore the colorful souk.

Meet with the camel drivers and begin the trek.

Embark on a two-hour hike accompanied by a local camel driver... Set up tents and prepare dinner over a wood fire while witnessing the making of sand bread.

Dinner, evening, and overnight stay.

Day 2:

Breakfast.

Return on camelback to the town of Douz, where you will board the 4x4.

Departure to Matmata and visit to a troglodyte house hosted by a local. Enjoy a tasting of traditional rosemary tea and homemade bread served with olive oil and honey.

Lunch.

Photo stop at the Berber village of Toujane.

Return to Djerba.

The price includes:

- Transportation by 4x4 vehicle
- Service of a guide accredited by the ONTT
- Overnight stay in a desert bivouac with all meals provided
- Entrance fees to the scheduled visits in the program
- Camel trekking
